  1. If there is anything I wish I was taught better is how to understand what I'm reading as soon as I read it. When I read I usually have to re-read paragraphs or certain lines to better get an understanding of what I've read. As opposed to me, in particular, having to go back & forth to reading and make sense of it. However, as soon as I get what I'm reading I can interpret ideas and analyse it. In other words I can derive points and create vision in what I've read.

    1. I understand how you feel. Sometimes a sentence might contain too much information that I have to read twice or thrice because I feel that I might have missed something. There are even times when I get distracted or my head is somewhere else entirely.

  2. As a reader, I am good at taking mental notes about significant characters in a book or novel and keeping them there for later use. I do feel that I am not good in staying focused while reading if I am with other people. I used to be able to read a good novel with out being distracted by the people around me, but now it is as if my homework and studying have to be done in a quiet environment. I wish I had been taught how to directly focus on a reading. Why? Sometimes I catch mysely, as I read, thinking about the days events and how they could've gone differently.. WHILE I AM READING! So by the time I realize that I hadn't been focusing on the book, I am already at the end of the page and don't really remember what I have read.I really wish I had had at least one teacher along my educational path to tell me that they relate to the problem and give me pointers on how not to daze off. It's odd because I truly don't even know when I start to go off in another mindthought while I read the book. Maybe it's a story in the book that I relate to which causes for me to have a flashback, but I truly don't know. I can memorize though, while I read, but sometimes the understanding is a difficulty for me.

  3. When it comes to reading, I believe I’m good at analyzing paragraph by paragraph to find the main idea of the story. Also, I’m good at reading my story more than one time because it sure doesn’t make sense the first time. My weakness when it comes to reading is when it comes to those big vocabulary in the passages that makes me it feel dumb and start giving up on reading it. I have figure out that somehow along the way I didn’t learn to be a good reader probably because I need more help and time to figure my weakness’ as a reader. I don’t blame my teachers or my parents for considering myself not a good reader, but I sure wish I had spoken out to them that I need more time in learning the process of becoming a excellent reader.

  4. Every time I sit down to read a text, be it just for pleasure or a school task, I like to take my time and give all my undivided attention to the writing in front of me. I believe that as a reader I am good at making connections between the text and my own life, in order to better identify myself with the author or the protagonist. I am not as good at analyzing the texts I read. There might be some references that might just fly over my head. I have noticed that sometimes I have to read something more than once to completely understand it. Something that I had wished I had learned to do better would be how to discern an author's tone and attitude. I know how to analyze diction and syntax to figure it out, but I feel as if I still need more practice to be completely sure of it.

  5. I agree with you sometimes I have to read a passage twice or even more to understand the authors purpose. Also, we are a like in trying to connect with text with my own life or society in order to have a better understanding of the author passage.
